Concerned residents raised the alarm when a man was seen wielding an axe in a busy Southampton estate.
Police received a call from concerned residents, who saw the man wielding the hatchet in Lordshill Way, Southampton on Wednesday night.
Officers attended the scene just before 8pm on Wednesday to find the axe man, who they believe had mental health issues.
The concerned officers flagged down a passing ambulance for assistance.
The ambulance team then took the man to be treated at Southampton General Hospital.
Sandy Yousef, who saw the man whilst driving to her home in North Baddesley with her two children said: “I saw a man on our side of the road with an axe who was walking really fast – it was scary.”
