A HAMPSHIRE bar is bidding to build a rooftop smoking terrace large enough for more than 40 people.
Central Bar, above Station Road in New Milton, has submitted plans to New Forest District Council including noise barriers to avoid disturbing neighbours.
An impact assessment by KP Acoustics Ltd concluded that as long as the screens were installed any sound from patrons would match background levels.
The space would be shut completely at 12.30am.
The plans would boost the venue and New Milton's nigh time economy, the proposal claims.
A decision is expected by June after residents and the town council have had a chance to comment by May 28.
