A Hampshire school is warning parents to be alert after a string of incidents involving a white van following pupils.

Merdon Junior School, in Chandler's Ford, has sent out a warning and asked people to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour, particularly before the start and end of the school day.

Police received a report of a man in a white van following a girl along Brownhill Road, Chandlers Ford, between 3.55pm and 4.05pm last Thursday.

Officers received a second report of another suspicious incident at around 1.45pm that day, involving a 16-year-old girl who was walking along Brownhill Road and was subsequently followed by a white van.

Police say it was driven alongside her for a short time before driving off quickly.

A third incident involving a man in a white van was reported on the morning of Friday, June 23, shortly after 8.45am, when a 44-year-old woman who was walking along Pine Road was shouted at by a man shouted at her from his van and drove off.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “There is no evidence at this stage to suggest that the three incidents are linked or that the van or the person involved is the same.

“Officers will be paying particular attention to this area whilst on school patrols and we advise anybody that has seen any suspicious activity to report it to us.”

Police are asking anybody with any information about the three incidents to call them on 101, quoting reference numbers 44170238103 for incident at around 4pm on Thursday, 44170238950 for the 1.45pm incident, also on Thursday, and 44170239481 for the incident of Friday.
