MOTORISTS are facing severe delays this evening after two motorway accidents, one involving a pregnant woman.

One lane has been closed due to an accident on M3 northbound between junction 14 M27 and J13 A335 (Chandlers Ford).

Drivers are facing delays of approximately one hour and a half from junction 5 westbound and the M27 link road.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: "There have been two collisions on the M3 this evening.

"The first involved a lorry and a car on the M3 at Chandlers Ford.

"We received a 999 call concerning that accident at 4.58pm.

"We sent a specialist paramedic in a rapid response vehicle to the scene and the car driver, a female, is going to take herself to hospital for further assessment – she was not injured but as she is pregnant, the specialist paramedic advised her to go to hospital for additional checks as a precaution.

"The second collision involved two cars at Chilworth. We were notified about that accident at 5.23pm and the ambulance that had been sent to the above accident, stopped at this to assist.

"In one vehicle there are two patients; an approx. 50-year-old female with abdominal pain and an approx. 50-year-old male with chest pain.

"A second ambulance has been requested so I would think both patients will be transported to hospital."

More to follow.
