A 95-year-old woman had her bag stolen while she was browsing at a charity shop in Hampshire.

Police have launched an investigation after the incident, which happened at about 1pm outside the British Heart Foundation in High Street, West End, on Thursday, August 10.

The victim put down her handbag while she was looking at items for sale outside the shop, and when she went to pick it up again it had gone.

Officers want to speak to the woman pictured, who is described as being white, in her 50s, about five feet and seven inches tall, and of medium build.

She had brown-grey shoulder-length hair, wore a bright pink cardigan, an carried a yellow long-life shopping bag.

PCSO Rachel Barry, of the Netley and Bursledon Neighbourhood Team, said: “We know that the image is grainy but we believe someone may recognise this woman by the description and the bright pink top she wore.

“The handbag contained items of sentimental value, including photos of the victim’s wedding day and of her late family.

“We would appreciate any information people may have about this incident.”
