MYSTERY remains over how a man was seriously injured after being found lying on a pavement.

The 34-year-old was discovered lying on Hill Lane, Southampton, in the early hours of the morning, and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating the incident, which happened at some point before the man was discovered at 5.50am on Sunday, August 13.

Previously officers had asked the driver of a blue van to come forward, and the man has since spoken to police and helped with the investigation.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who lives on Hill Lane, near the junction of Alexandra Road, opposite Rollesbrook Gardens who heard any disturbance in the early hours of Sunday morning between 5am and 6am.

"Did you drive past and see anyone in this area? Do you have dash cam footage that could assist us?"
