SURVIVING seasickness, torrential rain and rough water, a crew of four men have completed their history-making quest to join an elite group who have rowed around the UK.
Jeremy Webb, a business relations manager at the University of Southampto; Rhys Deane, from Ilfracombe; Lyme Regis’ Nigel Le Gassick; and British-born Sydney resident Duncan Tebb completed the mammoth 2,400 mile row.
The group became only the 25th to 28th people to complete the challenge.
It took the crew 38 days, three hours and three minutes, to complete the non-stop, unassisted row.
Jeremy said: “It was a trip of many emotions. We had really good weather and in those days we were on a buzz, a high. The coastlines are glorious along the south and you sometimes forget how beautiful it is between Dover and Southampton.”
The group has been raising money for The Honeypot Children’s Charity and the new cancer immunology centre which is being built at the University of Southampton. The total currently stands at £4,000.
