HUNDREDS turned out at a popular regatta in Hampshire over the weekend.
Crowds spent their bank holiday at the Bursledon Regatta, which has run for the past 150 years.
The paddle board race and the gig race kickstarted the day at Elephant Boatyard, followed by a variety of other events including canoeing and rowing.
In keeping with this year’s theme, children had the chance to showcase their fancy dress inspired by classic movies in a parade, with prizes awarded later in the day.
The celebrations ended with a torchlight parade of dinghies and a colourful fireworks display.
The historic regatta is organised by the Swanwick, Bursledon and Warsash Regatta committee.
Member Peter Falconer said: “We think we were definitely up in numbers on last year. The weather made such a difference, it was a beautiful day. In the carnival floats, which were themed on classic movies, we had a much better turnout this year as well.”
