WINCHESTER City are leading the local charge in the Evo-Stik South West.

Craig Davis's Citizens rose to fourth after a clocking up their second league win of the bank holiday weekend, beating Wimborne Town 1-0 at the Simplyhealth City Ground.

The only goal of the game arrived in the 30th minute when Jamie Barron’s cross from the right was headed home by defender Josh Harfield.

Early-season table-toppers AFC Totton are down to ninth following a 2-0 defeat at Salisbury.

Marvin Brooks broke the deadlock after 29 minutes from Stuart Green’s neat cut-back and the former Poole Town striker finished the job from the penalty spot on the hour.

Brooks was himself pulled back in the area and the Stags’ offender, Callum Chugg, was sent off.

It was the second red card for Totton in three days after Charlie Gunson got his marching orders at home to Slimbridge on Saturday.

Totton’s closest chance fell to Craig Feeney who rattled the post in first-half stoppage time.

For Salisbury, it was a timely response to their weekend defeat at North Leigh.

But there was more injury woe for the Whites whose skipper Kane O’Keefe hobbled off early with a groin strain, opening the door for former Winchester midfielder Green.

Gosport Borough’s Evo-Stik South Premier season lurched from bad to worse with an 8-0 home mauling by Basingstoke Town.

Ben Wright, an ex-Borough player, triggered the landslide in the second minute and later added a penalty.

Sam Smart (2), Jack McKnight (2), Ed Sanders (OG) and Dan Collier piled on the misery.

Newly-promoted Sydenhams Premier runners-up Moneyfields are second in the Evo-Stik South East after a 4-1 win at Fleet Town where Ryan Pennery, Conor Bailey, Brett Poate and Nathan Paxton were on target.
