FORMER Winchester City and Alresford goal-getter Warren Bentley took just 24 minutes to score for his new club Poole Town.

The skilful forward has joined the Dolphins from their Vanarama National League South rivals Hungerford.

After Bentley had opened the scoring at Whitehawk yesterday, Jez Bedford doubled Poole’s lead seven minutes later.

But the rock-bottom Hawks, playing their first game under the caretaker charge of ex-Saints and Eastleigh left-back Dan Harding, hit back for a share of the points, 2-2, through Connor Tighe (penalty) and Liam Gordon.

Bentley, a PE teacher at The Sholing Technology College, helps fill the void left by Luke Roberts who is out long term with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

A Poole statement said: “Tom Killick (manager) has long been an admirer of Bentley, a player who has scored goals wherever he has played.

“The competition for places that Warren’s signing will bring can only help the Dolphins going forward.”

Poole have also done a loan deal for young AFC Bournemouth left-back Ollie Harfield.

Harfield has been with the Cherries for three years having previously spent seven with Saints.

Havant & Waterlooville rose to fourth in the VNL South with a 4-1 win at second-to-bottom Weston-super-Mare – Jason Prior, Rory Williams and Theo Lewis the scorers.
