SOUTHAMPTON residents came together for an annual event with the emergency services on Saturday.

Fun and games mixed with demonstrations and education as police and the fire service reached out to the community at Nicholsfest at St Mary’s Fire Station.

The free event saw Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service offer a bouncy castle, a barbecue and a DJ to those enjoying the end of the summer sun.

The yearly event is organised by the emergency services to educate the public, with a car fire demonstration also taking place.

Sponsored by a host of local businesses, sporting challenges and fairground rides were sat next to displays of emergency response vehicles in an attempt to help educate the public. Fire and police officers also took part in the games.
