POLICE are continuing to question a murder suspect after a father-of-two was stabbed to death in a city street.

Investigations are ongoing after Kirpal Sanghera, 39, was left for dead in Radcliffe Road following a knife attack.

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of murder as the investigation moves forward.

Tributes continued to pour in on social media yesterday for Mr Sanghera, who has been described as “golden-hearted” by his family.

The suspect remained in custody when the Daily Echo went to press last night as the victim’s devastated family mourned the loss of their son and brother.

Police launched the murder investigation after Mr Sanghera, known to his family as ‘Pal’, was stabbed late on Monday night, yards away from his childhood home.

Residents described waking up to to the sounds of screaming and shouting moments before the attack.

Roads in the area were closed throughout Tuesday as police and forensic officers swept the streets, bushes and bins for clues.

Floral tributes to ‘Pal’ were left at the scene with messages of condolence to his loved ones.

Mr Sanghera’s youngest brother Sonie described him as his “best friend”, while his sister Jagpal Dosanjh said that he was a father figure to her.

Mr Sanghera was born and raised in Southampton, growing up in Radcliffe Road.

He attended St Mary’s Primary School before moving to Bellemoor Secondary School, now Upper Shirley High School – and later City College.
