A MAN jailed for life after paying for the murder of New Forest woman Pennie Davis, has been given an additional three-year jail sentence for admitting his part in a prison smuggling ring.
Ben Carr, 25, pleaded guilty to two charges of being involved in a plot to throw drugs and mobile phones into Winchester Prison.
Appearing at Southampton Crown Court last Thursday, Carr was handed a three-year sentence by Judge Nicholas Rowland.
The term will run consecutively to Carr’s 30-year life sentence, given in April 2015 after he was convicted of paying for the murder of mother-of-five Pennie Davis.
The ring operated between February 2015 and June 2016, and involved £47,000 of money laundering.
It also involved his sister, Danielle Carr, of Dibden, who was given a 12-month sentence, and Sophie Lennards, of Faircross Close, a former partner of Carr, who was sentenced to 15 months.
