A FLAT used for drug-related and antisocial behaviour has been shut down.

Police carried out a number of drug warrants at the building in Chapel Road, Southampton, over the last year.

The flat will now be boarded up and anyone entering it will be committing a criminal offence.

PC Sue Badham from Southampton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This closure order has been a result of successful joint working between local officers and Southampton City Council through Fortress, our campaign to shield communities from drug-related-harm.

“The activities of the occupants of this address have had a huge impact on the quality of life for those living nearby and our aim was to stop this.

“We have been able to listen to the concerns of the residents and aimed to ensure they could live their lives without fear of stress and intimidation, as well as protecting vulnerable people within the community.

“Had it not been for the brave members of the community who came forward, this order would not have been possible so we would like to thank them for their support.

“We hope that this order will send a strong message that we will not tolerate drug-related activity in the city.

“If you are concerned about drug-related crime or anti-social behaviour where you live, please contact your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.”
