A LIFEBOAT crew called out to deal with a sinking boat in Southampton have described the incident as a "false alarm".
The crew were launched from Calshot Lifeboat Station at 12.35pm to reports of a sinking boat in the River Itchen.
It was reported that the boat, which was opposite St Mary's Stadium, had "one person" was onboard.
When crews arrived they did not find anyone in distress, instead discovering a buoy floating beside a boat.
They have described the incident as a "false alarm with good intent."
