It's the Hampshire pub that really is open all hours.

Open till 3am every day, opposite the Winchester Guild Hall, Alfie's is what many regulars refer to as a "proper pub with a great atmosphere."

From the outside it doesn't look like much, in fact it's quite easy to miss. The unassuming freehouse's white washed exterior, hides a cozy

watering hole, complete with large sheltered beer garden and decor that mixes traditional country pub with pop-culture pastiche, framed pictures of Alf, Weird Al, Michael Cain and many more besides adorn the walls of what was once an old coaching inn while the tables in the garden are emblazoned with bullseyes and biohazard symbols.

Alfie's is a place where its patrons go to unwind and above all, have fun.

Open from 11.30am- 3am every day serving everyone from seniors to students, the freehouse serves a wide selection of craft beers, ales, spirits, and simple cocktails, as well as traditional pub food well into the early hours.

Manager since 2007, Craig Friswell says that the current owners who bought the pub in 2014, have brought a level of investment to the establishment which has helped it grow over the last three years, and turn it, from a student spot, into a great all round-pub.

"We try to fill the middle ground and not be too over the top. Students and trades come in late after work, for them 1-2 in the morning is like the average persons 5pm. We offer a shorter late night menu, and BBQ till 3am that has been doing a roaring trade."

He continued:"We get 80% of our trade after 10pm. However, we are now trying to get more people in during the day and early, by offering local businesses and trades cards for 15% and putting on sport during the weeknights. We've also just bought retro gaming consoles for when there's no sport on so that customers can ask to hook up a Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 or Nintendo 64 to one of the TVs when there's no sport on. It's all about allowing people to enjoy themselves."

When asked about what makes Alfie's unique, other than the late opening hours, Craig said that Alfies was a pub that didn't like to take itself too seriously, and that unlike some of the other sister pubs that like to go after awards. Describing the pub as the Black sheep of the family. "We just keep doing our thing, and making sure that the customers are having fun. We often troll other local pubs on twitter, but its all in good fun. "We once got the mucky duck to tweet our specials."
