I WAS shocked by something I heard in a local supermarket this morning.
A gentleman was clearly looking for something and was asked by an assistant if she could help – children's books he said.
The assistant took him to the correct section and asked if he wanted anything in particular – a book for a child of seven he replied.
It was her next question that surprised me: "For a boy or a girl?" she asked.
Come on supermarkets, please train staff on equality, books are books for anyone to read.
I do not object to a suggested reading age being put on, but not right across the front of the book, it can upset some children, but please not if they are for boys/girls! Come on supermarkets advise/train your staff.
