MOTORISTS are facing further delays on the roads in Redbridge, seven days after the last case of traffic misery.
One week after Redbridge residents reported “convoys of cars” streaming down roads such as Gover Road and Old Redbridge Road, maintenance on the westbound A31 has again seen a similar outcome.
The work has slowed down roads in and out of the city as well as having an impact on the M271 and the M27, both of which are part of the diversion routes.
It comes as part of a £20m scheme to save two of Hampshire’s busiest road bridges from crumbling.
Transport bosses say without starting “essential” work to the Redbridge Causeway, heavy lorries may be banned from using it within a year.
The signs are continuing to mislead frustrated drivers, with the illuminated signs incorrectly stating that work had finished at 5am this morning.
One frustrated driver from Redbridge, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's ridiculous.
"This is the second weekend running and it seems as though nothing has changed.
"It's inane."
