CHILDREN at a Southampton school were in for a treat when a top Saints star paid them a visit.
The fans at Redbridge Community School found out how Premier League players cope with the pressures of the job while learning about social issues as well. And they also had a go at playing football while blindfolded - to get experience of the challenges faced by visually impaired players. The event was organised by Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation and Saints Foundation - the community arm of the Southampton Football Club. It saw Nathan Redmond play with the youngsters - and he also took time out to answer their questions.
Paul Mortimer - former Aston Villa player - spoke to the group of around 30 year ten pupils about equality and diversity - and what to do about racism, sexism, homophobia in the game.
