COLIN Hingston (December 18) considers Nigel Farage a ‘patriot of the highest order’.
On the same day, I received a UKIP leaflet stating that ‘MEPs Nigel Farage and Ray Finch have continued to be a strong voice in the European Parliament, defending British interests and fighting for what is rightfully ours’.
Mr Farage is consistently reported as receiving a salary of around £80,000 and office expenses of around £40,000 for representing our interests in Brussels, and can expect a pension of over £70,000.
Nevertheless, UKIP gained the worst record of any European party for participating in votes at the EU Parliament. Votewatch Europe ranked Mr Farage personally as 748th out of 751 MEPs for turning up to vote.
He now claims he is ‘skint’ and ‘there’s no money in politics’.
Isn’t his real achievement to have mis-sold Brexit?
