A SECURITY worker has been fined after being found in possession of cannabis.
Ahmed Samantar pleaded guilty to possession of the class B drug when he was searched by officers in Southampton last month.
The 24-year-old was found with £40 worth of the substance on him which he told police was for personal use.
Representing himself, Samantar told Southampton Magistrates’ Court he has been smoking cannabis resin for eight years and is “addicted”.
Samantar, of Kent Street, Bevois, was fined £90, ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
In sentencing, magistrates said: “You have been given a hefty financial penalty. It’s very expensive cannabis now.”
