A BURST water main has flooded a road and is delaying trains in Southampton.

Test Lane is closed at the junction with Gover Road because the road is impassable due to flooding.

South Western Rail says the incident is now affecting its line between Redbridge and Romsey.

A South Western Railway statement says: "Our control centre has been made aware of a burst water main near the railway between Redbridge and Romsey which has began to affect the railway line.

"The line is blocked for trains travelling from Redbridge towards Romsey and trains travelling from Romsey to Redbridge will have to run at a reduced 20mph through the affected area.

"Engineers from Network Rail and Southern Water are on site in order to rectify the situation."

Signage has been put in place at the roundabout.
