TWENTY new jobs have been created in Eastleigh as a fast food chain reopens its doors to the public following a major revamp.

As previously reported, the McDonald’s restaurant at The Swan Centre underwent a multi-million pound makeover as part of a project aimed at introducing new facilities and improving customers’ experience.

Now it has reopened its doors to the public and the company has announced that 20 new jobs have been created in the town centre.

The expanded restaurant will offer 50 additional seats and a free play-place as well as eight self-order kiosks aimed at improving the speed and ease of ordering.

Local McDonald’s franchisee Tony Bennett, who owns and operate the restaurant in the Swan Centre, said: “These changes are designed to make our customers’ experience as positive as possible- whether that’s providing people with a chance to get to grips with using a tablet in a relaxed environment, or providing parents with a quick and easy way of ordering their food.”

The revamped restaurant reopened its doors to the public on February 14.

Teresa Swann, Eastleigh BID manager and councillor Chris Thomas, deputy mayor of Eastleigh, attended the opening ceremony on February 14.

Cllr Thomas said: "It was fantastic to visit the new restaurant and learn more about how the digital features will benefit customers and staff alike. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of the restaurant and it was good to learn more about the work the franchisee and his staff do for the local community.”

The company has also confirmed that more services could be introduced in the future with customers being able to customise the classic burgers or play interactive table-top games while sharing their meal.
