MORE snow and plummeting temperatures could be on the way, weather experts are warning.

Overnight frosts and a "greater chance of snow" could hit over Easter Weekend, according to the Met Office.

It would be the third snow shower in March, following the 'Beast from the East' and then the so-called 'Mini Beast', which struck Hampshire over the weekend.

On its website, the Met Office said: "The Easter weekend is still too far away to be confident with any details.

"The most likely scenario currently is a spell of colder than average weather, with increased likelihood of overnight frosts, and a greater than normal chance of snow, especially in the north."

Yesterday, more than 100 schools across Hampshire closed or partly closed after heavy snowfall.

Bin collections in Southampton were also cancelled due to the icy conditions.

The snow flurry came just weeks after the 'Beast from the East' and Storm Emma combined over the UK - bringing transport and services across Hampshire to a grinding halt.

At one point, the military were even called in to rescue drivers stuck on the A31 in the New Forest.
