EMERGENCY services rushed to a Hampshire hotel after reports of an incident involving hazardous materials.

Firefighters were called to Rookery Avenue, Whitley at 12.24pm today.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We sent crews from Hightown, Fareham, Cosham, Romsey and Portchester, which is the standard response to a hazardous materials incident. One female cleaner was overcome by fumes and was treated by the ambulance service. Crews ventilated the room using tactical ventilation."

It is understood that the incident happened at Solent Hotel and Spa but the business declined to comment.

The emergency services left the scene at 1.01pm.
