A man was up before Southampton magistrates twice in one day for a series of violent thefts from city stores.
Barrie Paul Hambly pleaded guilty to attacking a staff member while attempting to steal a Hugo Boss jumper worth £119 from Sports Direct in Southampton on April 13, 2018.
Hambly also pleaded guilty to stealing chilled meat worth £84 from CO OP, and three bottles of spirits worth £60 from Sainsburys.

Hambly, of no fixed abode, was sent to prison for 4 weeks, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Hambly was back in the dock later that same day for attacking staff at John Lewis in West Quay while attempting to take two brass table lamps worth £390.
He also failed to surrender to the court after being released on bail.
Hambly pleaded guilty to both and was sentenced to a further 2 weeks in prison.
