PLEASE can someone explain why we had to endure unbelievably loud music at the finish line of the Southampton Marathon?
We went along to watch our son finish the full marathon only to be deafened by some ear splitting racket.
I have no objection to live music in the right place at the right time but this was dreadful.
You couldn't hold any type of conversation and could only communicate by shouting!
It was the most stupid arrangement I have ever encountered at a sporting event.
Then, just to add insult to injury, when the marathon runners started to arrive at the finish line not one of them was announced over the PA!
It was a truly appalling piece of organisation.
Whomever made these decisions should look long and hard at next year's event – move the music across to one of the parks, announce the winning runners, as they did last year, and let us enjoy the day.
