ORGANISERS of a paint-fuelled event are hoping it has raised more than £20,000 for a Hampshire hospice.

The 2017 Oakhaven Colour Run attracted about 1,000 entrants and netted £22,000 for the hospice in Lower Pennington Lane, Lymington.

A similar number of runners took part in this year's event, sparking hopes that it will prove equally successful.

Competitors were bombarded with paint as they completed four laps of the course at Brockenhurst College.

An Oakhaven spokesman said: "It was incredibly hot but there was a great atmosphere - lots of fun and everyone in a party mood.

"This was the fourth year we've done the colour run.

"Paint cannons are set off as the race starts and the runners pass through the arch. That's followed by a paint-throwing finale that leaves everyone multi-coloured.

"A lot of free water was on offer and despite the heat there were no problems."
