MARITIME minister Nusrat Ghani greeted staff at the Port of Southampton on her visit to the city.
Having said that the city is in a prime position to make the most of the UK leaving the EU next year, the minister got a tour of the port and some of the cruise ships that bring millions of pounds into the economy.
Speaking as part of her tour, she said: "As a leading UK port, Southampton is in prime position to take advantage of the new opportunities arising from leaving the EU, and of a new cohort of highly-skilled young people looking to make their mark in the maritime world."
As part of her tour yesterday (Friday May 11), the minister toured DP World, the cruise ship Britannia, and the Warsash maritime academy.
