A CHARITY supper with a vintage rock and roll theme had feet tapping at a Hampshire nursing home.

The evening, at Colten Care’s Kingfishers home in New Milton, raised more than Β£120 for Hope New Forest and Cat & Kitten Rescue of Lymington.

Residents, staff, relatives and members of the community all attended, some dressing up in 1950s costumes.

As Christchurch-based singer Retro Rita performed hits from the 50s, diners took to the floor to show off their jive, bop, swing and other dance moves.

Rose Arcellana, the home’s companionship team leader, said: β€œThe supper was a great success. There were smiles and laughter all round and it was lovely to see families enjoy a dance or two.”

She added: β€œThe two charities we helped were chosen by the residents themselves. Our thanks to everyone who came along.

"It was a great atmosphere and a good time was had by all.”
