A BOY has been charged with dangerous driving offences after a car was stolen in Southampton.

Police launched a city-wide search to trace the black BMW X3, which had been seen driving dangerously throughout Southampton on Monday night.

It was later found on Tuesday evening by officers and since then a number of arrests have been made in connection with the incident. 

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that a 14-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested yesterday (Wednesday, May 23) and later charged with aggravated vehicle taking, assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, criminal damage, drive a motor vehicle dangerously, drive a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a license, driving without insurance and use threatening and abusive words to cause harassment and distress. 

The car sustained damage to the front and back and was seen in Millbrook, Lordshill and Coxford. 

A 16-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested this morning in connection with the incident. 

He remains in police custody at this time. 

Officers previously arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Southampton on suspicion of being carried in a motor vehicle taken without the owner’s consent. 

They have since been released but remain under investigation.
