I'VE just been for for a lunch-time walk in East Park, Southampton, and there's a drug user with his joggers pulled down injecting himself in the groin. The woman he was with was slumped on the park bench next to him.

In broad daylight, in full public view on a lovely sunny day when people are out and about enjoying the sunshine.

I have to hope that dirty needle will get picked up, removed and disposed of properly and no-one's child or dog will come into contact with it, but I'm not confident that will be the case.

It's about time that Southampton City Council got with the 21st century and sorted out a shooting gallery and needle exchange for addicts to use in this city.

Their number are growing and the problem certainly isn't going to go away on it's own.
