EMERGENCY services rushed to Southampton after reports of a man jumping from a bridge.
A rescue operation was launched on the River Test shortly after 10.30pm on Tuesday after reports of a young man jumping off Redbridge Causeway.
Coastguard, ambulance services and firefighters were called to the scene to assist Hampshire police with the search.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Fareham, Cosham, Redbridge, Hythe and Lyndhurst were called to the scene.
A coastguard spokesman said: "We assisted police with the search. We searched in the area but there's no evidence of someone who had jumped off the bridge. It might have been a false alarm."
