A DRIVER narrowly avoided plunging their car into a Hampshire stream.
The BMW driver ploughed their car into a ditch beside a road near Titchfield.
But rescuers say the car was close to ending up in a nearby stream, beside Meon Road.
The driver was able to escape and the car recovered.
The incident was reported on Twitter by Hillhead Coastguard Rescue, who assisted the incident, which took place on Friday (December 21).
The team said: "We attended a car which had left the road.
"This driver was very lucky if they had been just a little bit more in they would have been in the river.
"Thankfully on this occasion the driver was able to escape. Please take extra care over the festive period."
