As someone who lives in Rownhams but worked in Romsey, I disagree with your correspondent Sarah DuPont (Feb 19) who criticised the recent improvements to Romsey town centre.
The paved area around the statue really works and traffic has slowed down.
The current work will allow trees to be planted which is also very welcome.
In Rownhams we have the choice, other than a few village shops, to go to Southampton or Romsey.
Romsey is a much nicer place to go and it is good to see Test Valley and Hampshire councils are doing their bit to keep it attractive and vibrant.
If Ms Dupont wants to see really bad roads I suggest she tries Southampton – I know where I prefer.
