HAMPSHIRE'S Hawk Conservancy Trust is to pick up three commendations at this year's annual British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) celebrations.
The event is being held today at Marwell Zoological Park. It recognises wildlife conservation and animal welfare efforts for species both in the UK and overseas.
Andover-based Hawk Conservancy Trust received three commendations including one for its work rescuing a pair of Peregrine Falcons which were returned to the wild after falling from Fawley power station.
Miranda Stevenson, director of BIAZA, said: "Conservation within zoos and aquariums is a vital part of the work to protect threatened species and to help change public behaviour and ensure the future of Planet Earth. These awards celebrate the vital contributions our members are making to conservation and education."
