FIREFIGHTERS raced to a blaze at a skatepark in the early hours of this morning.

A crew from Botley Fire Station raced to Woodhouse Skatepark in Hedge End at around 3.15am today.

Two hose reels were used to put out three burning fence panels in Woodhouse Lane.

Police initially reported the"fire in the open" to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services (HFRS).

The stop message came in at 4.19am.

A police spokesperson said: "Whilst on routine patrol an officer located a fire at the skate park on Woodhouse Lane, Eastleigh, at 3.10am this morning (June 18).

"A fire had been set to a wooden palisade causing damage. HFRS attended to extinguish the fire. Anyone with information can phone 101, quoting 44200220385."
