TEACHERS and pupils at the school where hit-and-run victim Theo Hixon-Denton was a pupil have today paid tribute to him.

They have started a book of memories for the 11-year-old, who joined Woolston School Language College in September.

It includes photos of his friends and teachers as well as written tributes that will be given to Theo's parents Julia Hixon and Philip Denton.

Woolston's acting head teacher Bernadette Hanly said: "The students and staff are devastated at the loss of our friend and pupil Theo."

She said that the school community was "in shock" and pupils who were close to Theo, a former pupil of Ludlow Infant and Junior School, had all been offered bereavement counselling.

A post-mortem has revealed that Theo, of Swift Road, Woolston, died from head injuries after he was hit by a car crossing Sholing Road, at about 5.15pm on Friday, near the Veracity Recreation Ground.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the accident, in particular anyone who may have seen a dark car with damage to its front, to call the roads death investigation unit at Eastleigh quoting Operation Payload on 0845 045 4545.

A 19-year-old Southampton man, who has not been named, was arrested by police on Saturday night and a car has been seized.
