PROPOSALS to build a new business park on meadows and woodland at the edge of a Hampshire community have been passed by planners.
The development will provide more than 23,500 square metres of new office and light industrial space on the 25-acre site alongside the M27 motorway on the southern outskirts of Whiteley.
Developer Arlington Securities wants to put 17 new buildings on the site, which will be split into three zones.
Immediately next to Rookery Avenue would be two three-storey and one four-storey modern office blocks, providing a gateway to the new park.
Smaller office blocks would be provided in short terraces around a square to the west of the site, while the area nearest to the motorway would be used for light industrial units.
The council received five letters objecting to the plans. Residents have raised fears about destroying woodland that is currently home to deer, increased traffic and further strain on Whiteley's already congested access routes.
