AS WELL as being able to bid for bikes at the very first motorcycle auction being held by Southampton Motor Auction next Monday, there'll also be two riders from the Isle of Wight Islanders Speedway Team and a display of custom bikes and trikes.

We aren't returning to the days of employers being able to sell their staff on to the highest bidders.

The racers aren't up for sale, just to lend some extra interest to what is sure to become a popular event and hopefully bring their bikes along so we can get an idea of just how little luxury there is on a speedway bike.

At the site in Millbank Street, Northam, will be Krzysztof Stojanowski, the 29- year-old Polish rider pictured top left, who has become a huge hit with the Island fans due to his flamboyant riding style and high points scoring.

Backing Krzysztof during his trip to the mainland will be team mate Glen Phillips, pictured below, the 25-year-old rider who's as much at home on the European Longtracks and Grasstracks as the oval on the Isle of Wight.

Local custom builder, Simon Harris, will be bringing (at least) one of the stunning chops that have made his reputation as a leading custom builder as well as lover of wide wheels.

Boom Trikes, a newer name to Southampton, have offered to bring along something special from their range of three-wheelers, although they might be persuaded to bring along the GG Quadster - the awesome four-wheel bike'.

Other bikes should be dropping by to boost the display outside the auction rooms where the very first bike to go under the hammer (in the best possible way), an MV Augusta Vitali, will be offered for bids at 6pm.

Trade and public are welcome to enter lots and bid for them, take a look at cars2bid4.com for information on how the selling and buying process works.

Kevan James, director, advises: "Make sure you do your homework on each machine, make sure you hear it started up and have a good look around it as well as looking at all the entry details.

"Do that and you can save yourself pounds."
