THE Hendy Group is expanding its Ford operation in the south with the acquisition of a key Ford dealership in Hampshire.

The automotive giant has this week completed the purchase of Rayco Ford in Romsey, a dealership which has been in the town for more than 30 years.

Hendy Group managing director Paul Hendy, pictured, said that all staff will transfer under the acquisition which he described as an important move in the company's expansion plans.

"We have built up an enviable reputation in Hampshire as a Ford dealer and we are delighted to add this Romsey dealership to our portfolio,'' he said.

The group already operates Ford dealerships in Eastleigh, Shirley, Fareham, Portsmouth, Winchester, Chichester and Marchwood.

It also has Kia, Mazda and Honda dealerships in the south together with Iveco, LDV and truck operations.

"As a group we are always looking to expand our operations and the addition of Rayco Ford continues our investment plans for the south,'' said Mr Hendy.

"Last year we opened a new Ford, Mazda and Kia dealership in Eastleigh together with investment in hire, parts, bodyshop and servicing divisions.'' Mr Hendy said that Rayco Ford would quickly be integrated into the Hendy Group as the company gears up for a host of new car launches.

These will be including the new Ford Kuga 4x4 SUV crossover this summer and the all-new Fiesta in the autumn.
