A MOON bear festival to help rescue bears which are suffering in China is being held this month.
The festival, organised by the Southampton branch of Animals Asia Foundation (AAF), takes place at Southampton Sports Centre on May 18 and includes a sponsored walk.
AAF is dedicated to finding long-term solutions to the problems of animal cruelty in Asia.
Their work includes rescuing 10,000 moon bears from bile farms in China and Vietnam.
To date the Southampton group has raised more than £14,000.
A further Southampton fundraising event will take place on June 17 when Jill Robinson, founder of AAF, will host an evening at the Pilgrim House Chinese restaurant in Canute Road.
Tickets for the evening are priced £25 and are available online at animalsasia.org or by phoning 01579 347148.
To join the sponsored walk on May 18, email lindajane220@hotmail.com or call Linda Burr on 01489 781055.
