A YOUNG woman sparked a fire alert in Southampton after she threatened to set fire to herself in a block of flats.
Firefighters and two ambulances were put on standby outside the flats in Redbridge Lane at about 9pm last night after the 28-year-old woman poured white spirit over herself.
But police negotiators talked her out of self-harming.
A police spokesman said she had "mental health issues" and was placed in the care of a mental health trust.
He added the woman had no means of starting a fire.
