THREE Hampshire pensioners have been targeted by doorstep conmen claiming to be water board officials.

Police have now issued a warning to elderly home owners after the incidents which all happened last week.

The first incident occurred at Highfield Drive, Ringwood, when three men called at a house and pushed past the elderly occupant and her son.

They searched the property but nothing is believed to have been stolen.

Two days later an 80-year-old woman living at Franklin Road, Twyford, was targeted by two men who claimed to be checking people's taps.

When the men left the pensioner discovered that £15 had been stolen from her handbag.

An hour later a 93-year-old woman living in Coles Mede, Otterbourne, found a man in her kitchen. He claimed to be repairing her sink but left immediately when she confronted him.

Police say the intruder had already searched the property and made off with £80.

One of the men involved in the Twyford crime is believed to be the same person who targeted the Otterbourne pensioner.

He is described as white, about 5ft 6in, aged 30-35, slim with short dark hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing a white shirt, dark trousers and black woollen gloves.
