The England selectors tonight announced that Chris Tremlett has been added to England's squad for the second Test against New Zealand at Old Trafford as a replacement for the injured Matthew Hoggard.
Tremlett, who has three Test caps, has recovered from the back spasm he suffered against Surrey and will link up with the England squad after playing for Hampshire in tomorrow's Friends Provident Trophy day-night match against Worcestershire at The Rose Bowl.
National Selector Geoff Miller said: "Chris performed well in last summer's npower Test Series against India and was unfortunate to have to return home early from the tour of New Zealand through injury.
"He is a player whose form we have been closely monitoring for some time and I am sure that he will be very pleased to be back in the squad and keen to stake his claim for a regular place in our bowling attack."
