CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to start filling your Santa sacks.

Mariah Carey may not be on full blast yet, but December is only a few weeks away.

If high street shops don’t thrill you and online shopping is a bit of a bore, look no further than these fantastically festive events.

Here’s a round-up of some of the Christmas markets and events coming to Southampton.

Southampton Makers Market – November 12

Support local this Christmas and visit the Southampton Makers Market at the City Art Gallery today.

Starting at 10am, shoppers can peruse handmade art, illustrations, ceramics, homeware jewellery, textiles, children’s clothes, and more.

It has been described as “the perfect place for some truly unique Christmas presents this year.”

Events manager for the market, Tobi Stidolph, said: “It's a pedestrianised area which allows us to create a really welcome space for our independent sellers to set up shop.

"All the stalls will be independent sellers and there will be a good variety of food and drink.”

It will run from 11am to 4pm on November 26 and 27 on Carlton Place and Lower Banister Street.

St James’ Church Christmas Fair – November 19

Organised by Dream Empire Market Co, this jam-packed fair will include craft stalls, cakes and hot drinks, mulled wine and gin, beauty stalls, food stalls, gifts, homewares, indoor and outdoor exhibitors, and more.

The church will also be holding a raffle to raise funds.

Entry fee will be £1 for adults and 50p for children under 12, with all proceeds from entry and refreshments going to the church’s fundraising efforts.

The fair will run from 10am to 3pm.

The Brickworks Museum Christmas Festival - November 27

Guests will be spoilt for choice at this event which runs from 11am to 4pm.

You can enjoy seeing the museum shining in the glow of Christmas lights and decorations to begin the festive period; shop at the craft market and find out about Christmas’ past in our Victorian cottage display.
