CHRISTMAS is fast approaching but so is the inevitable reality of seeing tinsel and Quality Street wrappers line the floor.

With that in mind, you’re probably wondering when your bins will be collected over the festive period.

Look no further than this article as the local authorities in Southampton, Eastleigh, and the New Forest have revealed their plans.

Southampton

Daily Echo:

Between Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2 2023, bin collections will be one day later than your usual collection day.

If your usual collection day is a Monday, it will be a Tuesday instead, and so on, during the festive season.

From December 19 to December 23 there will be usual collections.

No bins will be collected on December 24 and 25.

The following collection days have been revised:

  • December 26 – now December 27
  • December 27 – now December 28
  • December 28 – now December 29
  • December 29 - now December 30
  • December 30 – now December 31

The normal household waste and recycling collection schedule resumes on Monday, January 2.

New Forest

Most household recycling and rubbish collections in the New Forest district will go ahead as usual over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.

There will be some changes to the following collections:

Clear recycling sacks and black rubbish sacks

Collections due on December 26 will be collected on January 2.

The council will collect extra recycling and rubbish from affected households on January 2.

Glass box

Collections due on December 26 will be collected on December 31.

Garden waste

There will be no garden waste collections between December 26 and January 6.

Garden waste collections will resume as usual from January 9.

All other collection days will stay the same.

Eastleigh

There will be changes to waste and recycling collections over Christmas and New Year.

For details of the collection dates for your home, visit https://www.eastleigh.gov.uk/waste-bins-and-recycling/collection-dates and enter your postcode.

Garden waste collections will be suspended after December 23 and collections will resume on your usual recycling collection day the week commencing January 9.
