SOME might accuse me of exaggerating, but I’m convinced paying £1.55 for four Greggs sausage rolls is the bargain of the year.

It all started when a colleague told me about Greggs outlet. I had never heard of it before, but he told me it was the best way to buy a multipack.

Not that Greggs is expensive by any stretch of the imagination but I was intrigued, how cheap could it really be?

So, I decided to give it a try!

I headed to the store on Victoria Road in Woolston.

When I arrived, I couldn’t help but notice the name sign was painted red.

That’s not the Greggs colour, but, anyway, besides the point.

As you enter you are presented with a stack of crates with all the pastries you would want to buy - a pack of two sausages, bean and cheese melt for £1.25, or four sausage rolls for £1.55.

The store feels different than a normal Greggs, you don’t have the warm cupboards where you can burn your tongue eating a pastry.

You don't have a seating area where you can enjoy a coffee with your pastry, but you have a fridge full of sandwiches!

I had a mission and so my trip was short-lived.

I went in and grabbed a pack, paid for my sausage rolls and left.

So how was it?

Apart from the fact that you can’t buy a pack of warm sausage rolls when it comes to the flavour, it’s great as you would expect it to be.

It’s real value for money, compared to the normal £1.20 for one sausage roll.

My suggestion would be - if you’re out and about looking for a cheap snack on the run, walk in.

For reference, in 2016 a Greggs sausage roll cost 85p.

It went up to £1 in 2021 and since December last year, it's been £1.20.
