TWO lifelong friends have searched the globe and tracked down the majority of their old classmates, but are still looking for six more to join a 50th anniversary school reunion next month.

David Archard and Dave Ardron have spent six months searching for the 30 members of Class A from the former Prices School in Fareham from 1973 to 1978 as they gear up for their get together at Marwell Hotel from September 8 to 10.

So far, 24 classmates have been tracked down with the help of the internet and school alumni group 'Fareham Society of Old Priceans', some locally, some around the UK and some in such far-flung destinations as Australia, the United States and France.

It was in September 1973 that as fresh-faced 11-years-olds most of this group walked nervously up Park Lane, Fareham to Prices School for the first time to start on five years of secondary education.

The class are pictured in May or June 1978 as their O Level examinations got underway.

The search is still on for Andrew J. Christie, who formerly lived in Stubbington with his family, including a doctor father.

Stuart A. Day grew up in Portchester and joined the Army after leaving school and is still being sought by the group.

An unknown classmate is thought to be either M.S. Bailey or P.D. Chapman and two other unlocated former classmates, who left Prices before their O Levels, were James D. Barnes and John A. Campbell.

Mr Archard told the Daily Echo: "We still have six former classmates to find, albeit I realise that it is now most unlikely we will find them all.

"This whole exercise has been hugely enlightening with so many old memories being triggered and old friendships being renewed."

As word has spread, many students from different year groups at the school have been in touch and some are joining the reunion for the main Saturday night event, as well as a handful of teachers. Others are welcome to get in touch and join the party.
