A Hampshire salon has won a prestigious prize at The Salon Awards in London.
William Guy Hairdressing in Ringwood was awarded ‘Best Salon in Hampshire 2023’ during a night of glitz and glamour at the Leonardo Royal London St Paul’s on November 5.
Speaking to the Echo, Georgia Martin, personal assistant to William Guy who first entered the salon industry 28 years ago, said the whole team was "incredibly happy".
She said: “Everyone at the salon has worked incredibly hard, it’s great to be recognised.
“We’re an independent salon and in the current climate it can be tough for businesses, attracting and keeping hold of clients.
“To be nominated is a huge privilege but to then come away and win something is extra special, all of our hard work has paid off.”
The annual awards ceremony is broken down regionally, with salons from different counties eligible to nominate themselves for an array of awards including ‘Best Salon’ and ‘Best Team.’
For a select few – including William Guy Hairdressing Ringwood – the organisers of the event reach out and approach salons to get involved.

“It’s the crème de la crème of the hair industry,” said Georgia.
“It’s such a prestigious award and when we were approached, we couldn’t quite believe it.
“It was an amazing evening and it’s the first time we’ve won the award.”
Georgia described her colleagues as a ‘work family’ with a positive team environment which contributed towards the business becoming a local success story.
She said: “We try and go the extra mile; it’s more than just being about hair.
“People come into a team environment and it’s a five-star service, it’s like a work family.
“We’re really active on our social media channels as well and we want to connect with people where we can.
“We’re right on the border with Hampshire and Dorset and it’s a great catchment area.”
Georgia added: “It can be dog eat dog out their sometimes and it’s a real luxury for us to win the ‘Best Salon’ award.
“It’s a really nice moment of reflection for us and we’re looking forward to what the future holds.”
